Summery Yellow & White Silk Taffeta Day Dress w/ Leather Belt for Cissy
Greetings!
Finally finished the yellow silk dress I have been mentioning on my Up & Coming page! This is a newly created dress for the vintage Cissy doll. You might recognize some of the construction- it includes a bodice and collar from Cissy’s 1957 Taffeta and Polka Dot shirtwaist dress. The sleeves are my design. Skirt is a standard Cissy skirt that is about 7-1/2-8” long, about 55-60” around with a 2” hem!
Bodice with short sleeves are made with a soft white silk, it is fully lined (including sleeves) with swiss cotton organdy. Closes in back with 4 square vintage snaps. Three of snaps are accented with pearl buttons (last was omitted to accommodate belt). A bow made with vintage grosgrain ribbon at neck. The full skirt is made with a lightweight taffeta in a light lemon yellow! It has a 2” hand sewn blind hem. Note the yellow came out a tad bright than it is on my monitor. Best representation of color is with it spread out in photo #6. Comes with a detachable belt. Made with white soft lambskin leather, closes with a gold buckle.
The taffeta is light and somewhat crisp giving it a little flare. But if you like that huge flare a slip is recommended. It is shown with a slip under skirt in all photos except last #7 -it is shown without slip. Slip is not included.
