Newly created for vintage Cissy doll. This is a reproduction of her 1956 Taffeta Side Drape gown. Made from a pattern of Cissy’s original gown. This is done in a pretty light yellow silk taffeta (the taffeta is pure silk ). It is lined with white swiss cotton organdy. I I decided to shake up the rhinestone accents, and used over sized leaf rhinestone accents on shoulder straps (instead of the thin bar rhinestones), and a longer leaf rhinestone on the side drape sash. It closes in back with 4 square snaps. Snaps are accented with rhinestone buttons.
A couple notes…. I use silk taffeta, not the polyester or acetate taffeta- Silk does wrinkle much faster than polyester. A warm iron on organdy side work fine. Note length of gown, the original did drag on floor, I have shortened my repro a bit. Cissy is shown modeling on a stand that has a platform of about 3/4” in all photos except the last, she is free standing- I mention this because the stand can change the look of length. This gown could benefit from a hoop slip ( not included)- I have a regular slip, plus a little tissue to boost the fullness under it in photos # 1-8 It is shown without a slip in photos #9 and #10 The side drape can get a little heavy and flatten the gown. Also comes with a little tulle evening purse! The tulle is a soft white, accented with little velvet forget me nots. The purse is “lucite” clear plastic with a silver braid handle.
